Sea buoys, fairways and channels: The entrance channel to the Main Port, between the two breakwaters, has a width of 183m and a depth of 13.8m. The entrance channel to the Kishon Zone is 80m in width and 12m in depth.
Pilot: Compulsory. The pilot service is provided throughout 24 hours. The pilot boards 0.5-1.5nm N of the main breakwater.
Anchorages:
Anchorage in the Bay of Haifa is protected from the strongest SW' gales, experienced during the winter.
Tidal range and flow: Range approximately 0.6m.
Dock density: 1025.
Weather: Prevailing winds: SW' gales (in winter) N gales in spring and autumn, sea and land breezes in summer.
Charts: 1585, 2634. Admiralty Pilot NP49.
Tugs: There are 3 tug boats available which have of propulsion of the "Voith" type which permits optimal maneuverability, with a power of 3,000hp and a towing force of 30t each.
