Sea buoys, fairways and channels: Directions for entering harbour: The approach to the harbour entrance is from NW and is clear of dangers. Two lightbuoys (port hand, pillar) are moored 0.2nm and 0.5nm respectively NNE of the harbour entrance.
Pilot: Compulsory. Pilots can be contacted via VHF ch 16, 14 and 12, 12 hours prior to arrival. The pilot boards within or outside the main breakwater. The nearest berth is 1nm and the farthest is 2nm.
Anchorage: Outer anchorage: Anchorage in depths of 22-29m may be obtained West of the harbour,
Anchoring is prohibited within the limits of the port, E of Long 034°37.6'E.
Tidal range and flow: MHWS 0.38m, MLWS 0.35m.
Dock water density: 1024.
Weather: Land and sea breezes all year round. In the winter there are sometimes SW gales, during the spring and autumn NW winds, sometimes reaching force 4/5 in the afternoon but calming down at the early evening.

Ashdod light (conspicuous red and white checkered concrete tower, 42m in height), exhibited 0.35nm SE of the S end of the harbour.
Radio mast (conspicuous, red lights) (1.25nm NE).
Five chimneys (conspicuous, red lights) (1.5nm NNE).
