Eilat is at the north coast of the Gulf of Aqaba. The port is equipped to handle most cargoes and a small repair service is available.

Load Line zone: Tropical.

Max size:
Tankers, draft 22.8m at Oil Jetty, 400,000dwt;
12.1m draft at bulk pier;
12.1m draft at container terminal.

Pilot: Compulsory and Available 0500-2400hrs (otherwise on request).

Anchorage: Anchorage may be obtained in 12 numbered berths in an area 0.5nm in width in depths of less than 100m, except for Berth No 12, where the depth is approx 130m. The anchorage is exposed to S winds and care must be taken to allow sufficient swinging room.
Four buoys, moored in a line extending in a 106-286° direction 0.2 nm off the N shore near the N limit of the anchorage area, mark the limits of a bathing beach. A buoy is moored near the NE corner of the anchorage area.

Tidal range and flow: Range 1.35m at spring tides.
Dock density 1027/8 during winter and 1030/32 during summer.

Weather: Prevailing winds: N-NE.

Charts: BA 8, 801. Admiralty Pilot NP64.

Tugs: Available. One x 750kW (14t static pull); 1 x 2,250kW (30t static pull, VS tractor). Tugs are used at pilot's discretion. The cost of tugs is included in the harbour dues.

Mooring information: Port Control, VHF Ch 14.
Vessels may be berthed with bow extending out of the berth, in which case anchors are used.

General berthing information: One-hour notice is required for berthing/un berthing for dry cargo vessels, with three hours notice for tankers.
